Prayer Request from Rev. Lorrie Gibbons
“I reluctantly find myself once again having to write to give you information about the current challenge I am facing. In spite of following my doctor’s orders perfectly, I have another issue with my foot, and unbelievably this is worse than the first problem.
The words of my specialist have once again struck fear and dread but we are trusting in the Lord for a miracle.
Regardless of my careful attention to the doctor’s instructions, in a different toe than before, I have a new drastic infection that has spread to the bone and to quote Dr. Mayer, I am “in catastrophic danger of losing the toe and possibly the foot”. The next 7 days are crucial.
I have an IV catheter in my arm for as long as needed and every day a nurse comes to change the bandages and administer the IV drip containing strong antibiotics. At my appointment yesterday, Dr. Mayer informed us that the infection has gotten worse since he began the IV drip so he has changed the antibiotic and added more to the mix.
He explained that ‘infection’ in my body is different than what most people think of when they have an infection in a finger or toe. Diabetes has made my immune system almost non functioning so that my antibodies do nothing to fight off any foreign germs or infections. This presents a difficult challenge – something more for which to pray!
I will continue to work from my home as much as possible, standing only when absolutely necessary. I will do my best to keep up with your calls and emails but sadly I will not be able to travel for any meetings or to any churches for speaking engagements for a while.
Debbie and I would most appreciate your prayer support. I need a miracle and we would be grateful if you and your churches would pray for my foot. You know we appreciate and love each one of you and thank you for your concern.”
Lorrie
