Ms. Ruth Pinkston (Blair) ~ Mr. Braeside's Daughter (Rev. JH. Blair)

Sunday, September 4, 2016 ~ At the final 2016 service of this summer's series of Braeside public services,  Speaker Doug Snyder publicly recognizes and honors Ruth Pinkston (Blair) for her father's contribution.  Rev. JH Blair (Mr. Braeside) was the founder of Braeside camp.  He was a very interesting man to say the least (and incidently there is a book written about him by Evangelist Jack West).

Ruth spoke as a "living stone" and a young girl (beginning at five years old) growing up in the early days of Braeside Camp as JH Blair's daughter.  She witnessed people's humilty, zealousness for holiness and hunger for God and his Word ~ ...very different days than today's "christian" scene.

"There where tents and little roughly-made cottages everywhere on the grounds as people flocked to see what God was going to do."

"...Revival would break out in the line-up to our cafeteria, as hundreds of hungry people seeking after God would begin to pray for each other while they waited in the food lineup!" , she stated quite matter-of-factly to us of her memories of Braeside days gone by.

"They didn't mind waiting at all!"

CAMP MEETING SEASON There are four main camps in our Western Ontario District (WOD) fellowship and each one of them is a great source of Spirit-life blessing. We have an outstanding list of speakers and worship leaders.

Why Camp Meeting? There are many reasons why camp meetings have been a great source of Spirit-life in our history of the fellowship.

1. It draws people away for a concentrated period of time to seek the Lord and experience the things of the Spirit.

2. It allows people to experience an expression of the body of Christ unique to that camp meeting and complimentary to their experience in their own church expression.

3. People are able to form life-long relationships with individuals in the body of Christ that they would not otherwise meet in the confines of their own congregation.

4. The relaxed atmosphere and concentrated opportunity for fellowship brings refreshment and renewal to the body, mind and soul.

5. Camp meeting is a time free from the normal routines of local church programming and an opportunity to focus on the fresh edge of the things of the Spirit.

6. It blesses the local church because those attending return inspired, renewed and invigorated with the fresh passion for the Lord and the mission of the church.
