What's The BIG Deal About Israel? (Covenant Theology Study) ~ CBN

Ed's Note:
  • God ALWAYS keeps his promises (Covenants)!!!  This is the BIG Deal About Israel !
  • For further background on Covenant Theology, see the video below & our study on Hebrews 8 ~ "Covenant Theology"

"The days are coming," declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.  It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors ..." ~ Jeremiah 31

"This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
11No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.” ~The NEW COVENANT ~ Hebrews 8 (Also Jeremiah 31)

GENESIS ~ The Bible Project

Ed's Note:  In our family devotions (2017) we are touring through the "Books of Moses".  We are now just finishing Genesis.  ...and what a rewarding adventure it is as we follow this family that God favored with his blessing!  The Bible Project is an excellent series to supplement scripture reading with an insightful overview.

The Beast and the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13 and 17 Explained ~ Ken Klein

NOTE:
  • In our family devotions last year (in 2016), we had begun studying the Book of Daniel.  It is a fascinating book and one cannot help but be inspired by this ancient man of great character that God used.  One of Daniels amazing qualities was his ability to "stand alone" in his beliefs.  I am teaching my children to be like Daniel!  Going back to my Sunday School days, I well remember the admonition to "Dare to be a Daniel".  In my middle years, this teaching is just as appropriate as an adult.  We need to stand our ground for what is truth and good and righteous!
  • Prophetically Daniel opens the door to end time events that are sure to come to pass. (God ALWAYS keeps his promises & the Prophecy precedes the fulfillment!)  The prophet Daniel "saw" many of the same things that John "saw" prophetically as it was revealed to him by God.  In Chapter 2 of his book, Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dream through God's help.  The vivid dreams given to Daniel are shaping our world today in their fulfillment.  The world empires that Daniel prophesied about following the Babylonian Empire came to pass as sure as night followed day.  Medo-Persia, Grecian Empire (under Alexander the Great) and the Roman Empire.  The "toes" or empire of both iron and clay has yet to appear fully, but it's no doubt the confederacy of the 10 European nations that will be on the scene when Christ sets up his kingdom. (Daniel 2:44)
  • Cutting through the symbol-language of prophecy, Ken Klein informs us that the first beast rising out out of the Sea in Revelation 13 is a "World System" and the second beast that rises from the earth is our current "Technological" world with it's computers, media and contains it's own communication system.  This video will take you a step further in understanding the events as they continue to unfold on the world stage!        ~ St. Mark

1960s Sunday PM Service ~ Glad Tidings Pentecostal Assembly, Red Lake, Ontario

Ed's Note:  Ever wonder what an Evangelical church (Pentecostal) sounded like in the 1960's?

While sorting through my father's items I came across some old reel-to-reel audio recordings from the 1960's and I had them digitized for YouTube.  He had a reel-to-reel Panasonic tape recorder he used alot. I remember being in this service nearly a half a century ago and I'm glad for the memories.  This was a Sunday PM evangelistic service.

The Holy Spirit is God's Power

The Comforter Has Come ~ Amber Scott (on Pentecost Sunday)

Amber Scott

  1. Oh, spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found,
    Wherever human hearts and human woes abound;
    Let every Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:
    The Comforter has come!
    • Refrain:
      The Comforter has come, the Comforter has come!
      The Holy Ghost from Heav’n, the Father’s promise giv’n;
      Oh, spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found—
      The Comforter has come!
  2. The long, long night is past, the morning breaks at last,
    And hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
    As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
    The Comforter has come!
  3. Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
    To every captive soul a full deliv’rance brings;
    And through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings;
    The Comforter has come!
  4. O boundless love divine! How shall this tongue of mine
    To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine—
    That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine!
    The Comforter has come!
  5. Sing till the echoes fly above the vaulted sky,
    And all the saints above to all below reply,
    In strains of endless love, the song that ne’er will die:
    The Comforter has come!

Take Now ~ Oswald Chambers

He said, “Take now your son…” —Genesis 22:2
God’s command is, “Take now,” not later. It is incredible how we debate! We know something is right, but we try to find excuses for not doing it immediately. If we are to climb to the height God reveals, it can never be done later— it must be done now. And the sacrifice must be worked through our will before we actually perform it.
“So Abraham rose early in the morning…and went to the place of which God had told him” (Genesis 22:3). Oh, the wonderful simplicity of Abraham! When God spoke, he did not “confer with flesh and blood” (Galatians 1:16). Beware when you want to “confer with flesh and blood” or even your own thoughts, insights, or understandings— anything that is not based on your personal relationship with God. These are all things that compete with and hinder obedience to God.
Abraham did not choose what the sacrifice would be. Always guard against self-chosen service for God. Self-sacrifice may be a disease that impairs your service. If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with grace; or even if He has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him. If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it. But never decide the place of your own martyrdom, as if to say, “I will only go to there, but no farther.” God chose the test for Abraham, and Abraham neither delayed nor protested, but steadily obeyed. If you are not living in touch with God, it is easy to blame Him or pass judgment on Him. You must go through the trial before you have any right to pronounce a verdict, because by going through the trial you learn to know God better. God is working in us to reach His highest goals until His purpose and our purpose become one.  ~by Oswald Chambers

Terrorists massacre Christians in Egypt. 26 dead, 25 wounded. ~ Joel Rosenburg

BREAKING NEWS: Terrorists massacre Christians in Egypt. 26 dead, 25 wounded. Please pray. Here’s the latest.

Egypt-busattack
(Washington, D.C.) -- Terribly sad news out of Egypt this morning: terrorists "attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christians in central Egypt, killing at least 26 people and wounding 25 others," reports the BBC.
Egypt-busattack2
I'll post updates on Twitter as more news becomes available. In the meantime, please pray for the victims and their families. Please pray for our Coptic Christian brothers and sisters in Egypt to be strong and brave and bold witnesses for our Lord Jesus Christ despite such these evil attacks by the Islamic State and other jihadi groups. Please pray, too, for President el-Sisi and the leaders of Egypt, including the police and security forces, that the Lord will grant favor to their efforts to establish lasting security and calm throughout the entire country for Christians and for all Egyptians.
As it happens, yesterday morning I met with Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Reda at the Embassy here in Washington. We discussed a wide range of issues, including President el-Sisi's recent visit to Washington, the important efforts Cairo is making to protect Christians, and the government's efforts to reach out to Christian leaders -- Coptic, Catholic and Protestant -- to build better relations. I greatly appreciated my time with the Ambassador, and I believe that the government there is making progress, though clearly there is much more that needs to be done.

Earlier this month, as readers of this blog know, I visited Egyptian Christian leaders in Cairo to stand in solidarity with them, get an update on their situation, and pray together. Indeed, I am praying the Lord will open the door for me to return to Egypt later this year to deepen these relationships. Eleven years ago, Lynn and our four sons and I lived in Cairo for several months while I was working on a book. We have a great love for Egypt, and we grieve for the persecution the Christians have been going through and all the political and economic troubles the nation has endured in recent years.

The Bible is clear: God loves the people of Egypt. Much Biblical history happened in Egypt. Many major Biblical leaders lived in Egypt at one point in their lives -- Joseph, the patriarchs, the entire nation of Israel, Moses, and the prophet Jeremiah, to name a few. Even the Lord Jesus lived there for a time with his parents when He was young. John Mark took the Gospel to Egypt in the First Century, and Egypt became a great center of discipleship early on. The prophet Isaiah indicates a very difficult but also very blessed future for Egypt (see Isaiah 19), so it's important that we pray faithfully for the Christians of Egypt, and all Egyptians in these challenging and tumultuous times and find ways to stand with them and help them.
  • Gunmen have attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christians in central Egypt, killing at least 26 people and wounding 25 others, state media report.
  • The bus was heading towards the Monastery of St Samuel the Confessor in Minya province, 220km (140 miles) south of Cairo, when it came under fire.
  • No group immediately said it was behind the attack.
  • But Islamic State (IS) militants have targeted Copts several times in recent months, and vowed to do so again.
  • Two suicide bombings at Palm Sunday services at churches in the northern cities of Alexandria and Tanta on 9 April left 46 people dead.
  • Another suicide bombing at a church in the capital in December killed 29 people, while a Christian community was forced to flee the town of el-Arish in the northern Sinai peninsula after a series of gun attacks in February.
